The Pilot Sport PS2 tire is a member of the Michelin family of low-profile, high-speed tires for the Maximum Performance Summer category. Initially designed as original equipment (O.E. Original Equipment) for the world's most prestigious sports cars and high-performance sedans; This tire combines traction and quick response when turning the steering wheel on dry roads. Some of the cars that use this tire as original equipment are: BMW Alpina Z8, McLaren SLR and the Porsche GT2 and GT3 models. It is not designed for use in near freezing temperatures, ice or snow.

The tread design has circumferential grooves and lateral notches that help evacuate water from the tread, ensuring greater traction on wet pavement.

The inner shell ply design is supported by two bands of lightweight, high-tensile steel ropes that are reinforced by “optimum size,” with precisely individually installed Aramid/nylon hybrid filaments to improve control, response to rotation and resistance to distortion; All of this makes the driving experience more pleasant and the tire's durability increases despite high-speed use.
